Instructor Policies |
o Late Work Policy: Late work will NOT be accepted with the only exception being documented emergencies. If such an emergency occurs, contact the instructor immediately and be prepared to provide proof of the emergency. Otherwise, complete all assignments within the unit time frame or on the required due date. o Missed Assignments/Homework Policy: Assignments completed in class cannot be made up due to absence. Many of the assignments in this course require your presence. o Missed Quiz/Presentation/Project Policy: Missed Quiz/Presentation/Projects will be assigned 0 points. The only exception to this policy will involve a medical or other emergency (your own or a dependent relative). In such cases, you must contact the instructor immediately (email) and provide them with documentation of the emergency. A student’s lowest Quiz/Presentation/Project grade will replace the first missed grade with proper documentation. A second missed grade will result in a zero. Undocumented missed Quiz/Presentation/Project will be assigned 0 points. o Plagiarism is not tolerated. Minimum failure of the assignment for a first offense. Future offenses result in a grade of F for the course. The instructor reserves the right to regrade all assignments for plagiarism at any time during the course. o Policy regarding assignment submissions: All written assignments, presentations, and projects will be submitted electronically through Blackboard. Students will be allowed 2 submission attempts per assignment. All assignment submissions must be in a compatible file format. Failure to do so means I cannot read your assignments, thus will not grade them. The instructor requires that all written assignments be typed. o Extra Credit: I will NOT offer individual extra credit. However, throughout the semester I may offer various opportunities to the entire class that is optional but highly recommended. o Grades are not discussed over the phone or during class time. If you want to discuss your grades, you can request this information using email. o Always email the instructor using your LSCPA email and send it to the instructor's LSCPA email address. o The instructor reserves the right to modify this syllabus during the semester if needed. The instructor also reserves the right to extend assignments, projects, or presentations at her discretion. |

Attendance Policy |
I will take attendance for each class. I do this for two reasons: (1) I use it to get to know who you are, and (2) to encourage you to come to class. I encourage class attendance because you may miss an important exercise, activity, or topic discussion that may be crucial for understanding a concept or topic. You are preparing for your future career and practicing good attendance habits now will ensure your success after college. In short, come to class every day you possibly can! Tardiness: Excessive tardiness will, likewise, have a negative effect on a grade. Be punctual and prepared! Dropping the course: It is up to you to drop the course if you decide not to attend class any longer. I will not drop you from the course. A word of caution; dropping or failing a course can have serious financial aid impacts for you, so I encourage you to speak to a financial aid counselor before doing either of these things. Sleeping in class: Please be aware that attendance requires not just your presence but your attention. If you sleep in class, you will be asked to leave and counted absent for the day. NOTE: In accordance with the attendance policy, five (5) absences can result in administrative removal from the course. |
